Accountable Care Organizations

Family Medical Center of Hastings is a member an Accountable Care Organization (ACO).  What does that mean for you?

An ACO is a group of doctors and other health care providers who agree to work together with Medicare to give you more coordinated service and care. ACOs are designed to help your doctors or primary care providers communicate closely with your other health care providers, so they can deliver high-quality care that meets your individual needs and preferences.

Your Medicare benefits, services, costs, and protections won't change if your doctor participates in an ACO.  You still have the right to visit and receive care from any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare at any time, the same way you do now.

Family Medical Center of Hastings is a member of SERPA-ACO (Southeast Rural Physicians Alliance Accountable Care Organization).  Our ACO group consists of many clinics in the surrounding counties.  To learn more about all of the things our ACO group is doing and to see who is all a member visit SERPA-ACO.

Talk with your doctor or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) if you have any questions about the information Medicare may share with the ACO in which your doctor participates.
