COVID-19 Notice: Learn more about the precautions we're taking.

September is...

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness month.  One in 3 children in the United States is overweight or obese.  Diseases or medical conditions that use to affect adults only, like Diabetes type 2, high blood pressure and heart disease, are now affecting our youth due to being overweight.

What are some ways that parents and teachers can help make a change in our child (ren)’s life?  Offer more fresh fruits and vegetables for children to pick from.  Have them readily available in the refrigerator as a snack choice.  Encourage exercise.  Make it a family effort.  For example, after dinner, everyone goes for a walk.  The more we make it fun and a family affair, the better results we will have.
